Step 9 : Day 5 : Suzhou - Nanjing

Day 5 : Suzhou - Nanjing

Day reported to be cooler than last 2 days... expected to be -3 degree C. But already get used of it.

We were welcomed to Suzhou by Miss Money the local (Suzhou) tour guide. Suzhou is renowned for its beautiful stone bridges, pagodas, and meticulously designed gardens which have contributed to its status as a great tourist attraction.

So after breakfast, we were brought to The Couple's Garden Retreat ~ one of the classical gardens of Suzhou. It is located near the eastern city wall of Suzhou at Xin Qiao Lane.

Actually the garden was the house of rich people at Suzhou long long time ago and now preserved as the retreat garden.

Surrounded by the canal from three sides, the Couple's Garden Retreat has piers close to the front and back entraces. Before moved to other destination, we cruised at the Grand Canal.

Ah Ma paddled the boat while sang a song...at that moment i understood why Suzhou has the nickname of "Venice of the East".

Ah Ma paddled back to her pier...

The beautiful view at the canal...

Suzhou has also been an important centre for China's silk industry. Therefore, visit to Suzhou by tour agent will not miss out the visit to silk factory. No photographing at the factory except the fashion show.

After out from the factory, Miss Money's face had changed to "black" and commented us as the group of the month with the lowest buying in the factory...that was meant the lowest commissions she received of the month lor for this group. Aiyah...so realistic no money no talk liao. Before that she talked a lot.

Not bothering her so much...we proceed for lunch.

Middle of the lunch... came these man and lady to entertain us with the chinese classical instruments. If not mistaken, 10 yuan per song.

Our last destination at Suzhou...Han San temple. The temple is named after a famous monk Han Shan who take charge of the temple.

Puming Pagoda... a five-storey Buddhism pagoda as high as 42 meters which is the symbolic building of the temple.
So bad... after all the introduction, we just given 10 minutes to walk around and go to washroom. Went to the washroom already spent 5 minutes liao!!!

The thousand years tree at the temple...

Long drive journey again to another city ; Nanjing.
Saw the piggy on the way to Nanjing.

Reached Nanjing... the city looked poor and less development. This was my first impression.

No No No... I was wrong. I still not reach the city yet...

First destination in Nanjing; Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge. It is a double-level bridge with a highway above and the railway track below, which is the first bridge completely built by Chinese people.

Then went to Ming City Wall; well-preserved largest wall not only in China but also in the world.

We just dined at the restaurant, right in front of the wall.

The famout Nanjing's Salted Duck. Served in cold.

Next, proceed to the famous shopping street in Nanjing; Fuzhi Miao or Confucius Street. Don't misunderstand the place as a temple...it is a happening shopping street. Maybe the nearby temple had caused the locals called it Fuzhi Miao.

Food were everywhere...so excited.

Hubby make a wish for two of us...

And hanged at the Wishing Tree.

With all the food bought from the Fuzhi Miao, checked into Jiangsu Yinmao Hotel. Reserved the food for the supper...hehehe.
