Step 9 : Day 2 : Shanghai - Hangzhou

Day 2 : Shanghai --> Hangzhou

Arrived at Pudong Airport @ 6.40am. Once step-out from the air-craft, me and my hubby started shivering. We faster went to the washroom and get our long johns on. The temperature reported @ 0 degree Celsius.

Our first activities was the early breakfast. Our stomach still full because we had our heavy meal on the flight @ 3am. Now 7am, time to refill again. No choice, had to follow because this time we were on group tour. Breakfast @ Airport Hotel, just a few minutes walk from the arrival hall.

From the picture, it looks not so cold but the reality was very very cold until your bones can feel it. Anyway we like it!!!

Next activity was to experienced the "flightless airplane" : Maglev train. We get on from the Pudong Airport station to Longyang Rd. station.

A cool and thrill experience with the maximum speed of 431km/h. It took only 8 minutes to travel this 30 kilometers Maglev Shanghai Line. If go by bus, you may required more than 30 minutes. Had been recorded by the Guinness Book Of Records for "the fastest ground transport tool in the present world".

After that, get on the bus/coach to Hangzhou. It is a beautiful place which won the title of " Paradise on the earth". Eyes very sleepy, but still keep on open to enjoy the view of Shanghai City.

Midway, visited Yue He Water Village which rich in Jiangnan style of classical architecture built on the lake.

The entrance of the restaurant. Felt like I was in the Chinese movie scene.

Sit with the rest of the tour members. One table for 10 persons. Environment quite quiet because we still new with each other. A bit shy to take out my camera for the food shooting because everyone had started eating. So faster faster shot the below picture. Food was nice with more than 10 dishes. Beer and coke included as well.

After the heavy meal, time to walk around. We were given 45 minutes. Several things looked weird for us like pork meat hanging around. The coldness around had served a big refrigerator.

The bridges built around the lake connecting one street to another.

In this village, it was segregate to few sections ; food, restaurant, flowers, handicrafts and the section I enjoyed most is the pet section.

The guinea pigs felt the coldness too...thus saw them close with each others.

A lovely little puppy...

At flower section, red flowers were everywhere since the CNY is around the corner.

The Water Narcissus; this Chinese New Year symbol signifies good luck and fortune. Flower that blossom at New Year's time. If the white flowers blossom exactly on the day of the New Year, it is believed to indicate good fortune for the ensuing twelve months. So regret not to buy it for the coming CNY!!!

Kam Kat /Tangerines; another symbolic of good luck and wealth for CNY.

The China baby with the rosy cheeks...so cute.

This was the executive coach that brought us around for the whole week.

Finally reach the Leifeng Tower where the fairy tale of White Snake tool place and get a panoramic view of West Lake on the Tower.

At the entrance...

Leifeng Pagoda was an octagonal, five-storeyed structure built of brick and wood. Don't worry on climbing the stairs up to the pagoda... mid-way there is an-open air escalator available.

The remaining of the old pagoda's base, which collapsed due to disrepair on 1924. The collapse was linked to the superstition that bricks from the tower could repel illness or prevent miscarriagemany that lead people stole bricks from the tower to grind into powder.

On top of the pagoda...

"The Legend of the White Snake" is illustrated on fine wooden craving. It is a touching love story about a girl who changed into a snake and a young man.

The beautiful scene from the pagoda...

Next we moved to West Lake Xin Tian Di, which is located in the Southern line of New West and houses world famous coffee bars, clubs, restaurants, shops and entertainment places.

The sky getting darker even the time showing 5.30pm.

After the visit...time for dinner @BaGuoBuYi Sichuan Cuisine with Face Changing Show. No photos of the Face Changing show because too busy eating.

The flour puppets...

After dinner, we rushed to the Song Dynasty theme park for the Hangzhou Song Dynasty VIP Show. It was an optional show which charged us RMB 350 per person which also included the ERA Acrobatic Show in Shanghai.
The show feature the history of Hangzhou which showcasting Hangzhou's past, present and future. I like the play of lights particularly which was interwined with the costume colours. The stage can turned into the lake in just a minute!

After the show, the tour guide brought us for a quick visit around the theme before closing @ 10 pm.

Everyone looked very tired...and we managed to check in to Zijangang Xigang Hotel around 10.30pm.
