Step 10 : Day 7 : Bangkok

Day 7 : Bangkok City Center - Erawan Shrine, Siam Paragon, Siam Center and MBK

The 7th day was the day we moved to Bangkok's city center. After checked out from 'O' Bangkok in Soi Rambutri, we took cab to S2S Boutique Resort in Pratunam. We already booked 3 days, 2 nights stays over there thru the internet with just 750Baht per night. The hotel quiet isolated but it is still within walking distance to some famous shopping centers in Bangkok City.

Among all the budget hotels that I had stayed in Thailand, this was the best with a very friendly services.

This was our standard room @ 4th floor with the special promotion price of 750Baht per night. Room is big and comfortable but the only bad thing was no lift available.

Like the decoration in the hotel...

After the evening nap @ the hotel...we started our journey to Bangkok City Center. Our first destination was Erawan Shrine. We walked from Pratunam where the hotel is located to Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel where the shrine situated just beside the hotel.

On the way, everything looked busy -people busy walking here and there, busy business activities and the busy traffic.

Finally, we reached. Located at the intersection of Ratchadamri Road in Pathum Wan district, Bangkok. It is near the Bangkok Skytrain's Chitlom Station, which has an elevated walkway overlooking the shrine. The below pic, was taken from the elevated walkway.

The four-faced Brahma (Phra Phrom) statue had the history of being vandalised by a Thai man believed to be mentally ill who then was beaten to death by angry bystanders. So don't play play @ the place...

The flower garlands were sold everywhere to worship the statue.

After praying and make some wishes, we went to the nearby McD outlet. Most of the McD outlets in Thai can spotted the Ronald McDonald in the "Wai" gesture (a slight bow with the palms pressed together). When sitting inside the outlet facing this Ronald McDonald for just 1 hour +...more than 10 people posing with this Ronald for photographing. Me also didn't missed out the opportunity to snap one as memory.

The taste a bit different...I more preferred the Malaysia's taste.

Walked again...and saw the Narayana Statue known as the God of Mercy in front of the InterContinental Hotel. Thais believed that Lord Narayaba helps to protect business of devotees from evil spirits.

Then we moved on to Central World, the largest shopping center in Bangkok and the second largest in Southeast Asia. In front of the Central World, is a large rectangular square.

We were lucky. The square was holding the Bangkok Motorbike Festival at that time.
Whatever type of motorbike can be seen from the old to the modern one.

Anyone can pose with any of their favaurite bike for photographing.

The Honda cub series...during my father's era.

This is my hubby's favourite....

Moving on again. For safety and free from traffic, advised to use the elevated walkways which connecting most of the major shopping malls in Bangkok.

Heavy traffic @ Siam Center. Photographers spotted here, taking their best pic on the Bangkok's traffic. Too bad...we still haven't master the skill to take this kind of pic.

Our next shopping center was the Siam Paragon. It was more to luxury and branded items.

Chinese New Year decorations were everywhere because the festival is around the corner.

Beside the Siam Paragon, is the Siam Center and Siam Discovery Center a twin shopping malls.

Quite tired walking around...so stopped a while for some sweet deserts. Came to the Dairy Queen ice-cream counter and ordered the strawberry banana ice-cream...taste okay and much more cheaper than the Swensens.

More energy after the cup of Dairy Queen 's Banana Strawberry...so we headed to MBK...another famous shopping center in Bangkok. Items over there are more to medium class consumers.

Like in Malaysia, the shops started to close from 9.30pm. We had very limited time over there so we plan for another visit on tomorrow. Before back to hotel, we went for supper @ Marina HK Restaurant; Thailand's Hong Kong style cafe.

We tried out the shrimp wanton with egg noddles, fishballs with egg noodles and the cantaloupe sago. The shop open daily for 24 hours.

Time to go back. This time we decided not to take Tuk-Tuk. We took the BTS (Bangkok Mass Transit system) Skytrain. We bought the single journey ticket from Siam Central Station to Phaya Thai Station. Just 2 stations away and the fare costed 20 Baht per person...not that cheap.
We still need to walk for another 20 minutes to the hotel. What a tiring day!!!
