Step 3 : Penang Island

Date : 6 - 7 June 2008
Location : Penang Island
Itinerary:

Day 1 : Shopping Spree In Queensbay Mall

Shopping, shopping, shopping... that's what I love! Yup, the main purpose of this trip to Penang was for shopping. Our first shopping destination was Queensbay Mall in Bayan Lepas. So crazy bout shopping until forget to take the photo even a single shot.

Day changed to nite and we went to Georgetown for accommodation. We stayed a night at the Hotel Regal Malaysia which cost only RM90 for a standard room.

Day 2 : Marry go round in Penang Island.

After the breakfast, we check-out from the hotel and headed to Fort Cornwallis. It took around 30 minutes to reached there even the hotel is quite near. What else???...we missed some junctions and need some U-turns. No GPS for us...we still depend on the map and sign boards.

First, we reached The Esplanade at Jalan Syed Sheikh Barakbah, famous with the well-preserved colonial building from the heyday of the British Empire. At the one conner, spotted a white building which is the Municipal Council of Pulau Pinang Hall (formerly City Hall).

A cenotaph towards the middle of the The Esplanade pedestrian walkway commemorates those who sacrificed their lives during World War I.

Walked further, we spotted Taman Kota Lama a playing field with some great history behind.

The Fort Cornwallis is just beside the Taman Kota Lama. It is built on the site where Captain Francis Light, founder of Penang. Entrance fee RM3 per adult.

The history of Seri Rambai Cannon...

The fort is also a home for horses.

We did go to Tanjung Bunga and Batu Ferringi and back to Gurney Drive again. Gurney Drive is our favaurite place everytime we were in Penang. So before headed back to Ipoh, we did try some local food at the hawker stalls just beside the Gurney plaza.

We came thru the Penang Bridge, so decided to go back on Ferry. Bye bye Penang... I believed i will come back again for another shopping spree.

Overall expenses $$$ : RM400...sure not including shopping lor.
